John Coltrane is a world class jazz saxophonist. He was arguably the most influential figure in jazz and 20th-century music as a whole. Coltrane constantly innovated, moving from bebop to modal jazz and switching in elements of free jazz and avant-garde into his music. Coltrane died in 1967 at the age of 40, but his music continues to inspire and influence people around the world, including me.
